Temporary protection and residence

Zpět

According to information from the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, it is the obligation of incoming Ukrainians to register their address with the Alien Police within 3 days of arrival in the Czech Republic. The addresses of individual branches of the Alien Police can be found HERE. If you are staying in a hotel, hostel or other official accommodation facility, the obligation to report the address of your accommodation does not apply to you; the accommodation provider will report you directly.

Provided that you have a biometric travel document, you can stay legally in the territory for up to 90 days, during which you must apply for temporary protection. The granted temporary protection gives you additional benefits, such as access to public health insurance, free access to the labor market, or a special humanitarian benefit. Information on who meets the conditions and can apply for temporary protection in the Czech Republic and what documents are needed for this can be found on the web portal for foreigners, also in Ukrainian.

If you have secured accommodation in the Czech Republic, the application for temporary protection can be processed at the Regional Assistance Centre (KACPU) of the region where you will be living. To be granted temporary protection with a place of residence in the Central Bohemian Region, you need to apply in person at the KACPU in Prague. If you do not have secured accommodation in the Czech Republic, contact the Regional Assistance Centre for Ukraine in Ostrava (Moravian-Silesian Region). There you can be provided with state humanitarian accommodation for a period of 90 days from the granting of temporary protection. This accommodation can be located in any region of the Czech Republic — it is not possible to choose, you will need to travel there at your own expense. More information about state humanitarian accommodation can be found on the web portal for foreigners, also in Ukrainian.
